As a self-proclaimed jam enthusiast, there’s nothing I love more than turning fresh, ripe fruits into delicious jams that my family and friends can enjoy year-round. And that includes strawberry pineapple jam.

Every summer, you’ll find me scouring farmers’ markets and local farms for the freshest fruits, knowing that they’ll soon be bubbling away in my kitchen, transforming into jars of sweet, sticky goodness. From strawberries to peaches to blueberries, no fruit is safe from my jam-making frenzy.

And when winter rolls around and the fresh fruit is scarce, my freezer becomes a treasure trove of summer’s bounty, ready to be thawed and turned into more jam.

One of the things I love most about making jam is the endless possibilities for experimentation. Sure, a classic strawberry jam is always a crowd-pleaser, but sometimes it’s fun to mix things up a bit.

That’s where my strawberry pineapple jam comes in. This delightful twist on a traditional favorite is not only incredibly delicious but also incredibly easy to make. Plus, it’s a great way to stretch a small batch of strawberries if you find yourself a little short.

Strawberry Pineapple Jam: The Beauty of Experimentation

Making jam is like a culinary adventure. With every batch, you can play around with different flavor combinations, adjusting the sweetness, acidity, and texture to create something truly unique.

Strawberry pineapple jam is one of those experiments that turned out to be a real winner. The combination of sweet, juicy strawberries and tangy, tropical pineapple creates a flavor explosion that’s sure to tantalize your taste buds.

The Summer Jam Frenzy

During the summer, my kitchen turns into a jam-making factory. The counters are lined with jars, the air is filled with the sweet aroma of simmering fruit, and my fingers are often stained with whichever fruit I am working with.

It’s a labor of love, but the rewards are more than worth it. There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing those rows of colorful jars, knowing that each one is filled with the taste of summer.

Strawberries are a particular favorite in our household. When I find them at a great price, I stock up, knowing that strawberry jam is always a hit. But sometimes, despite my best efforts, I come up a little short on the strawberries needed for a full batch of jam. That’s where the pineapple comes in.

Pineapple to the Rescue

Adding pineapple to strawberry jam not only solves the problem of a strawberry shortage but also adds a delightful twist to the flavor. Pineapple’s natural sweetness and slight tartness complement the strawberries perfectly, creating a jam that’s both familiar and refreshingly different.

And the best part? You can use canned crushed pineapple, making this recipe even more convenient.

Easy Peasy Jam-Making

  • Add strawberries and pectin and bring to a full boil.
  • Add sugar, return to heat and bring to a full boil while stirring continuously.
  • Boil hard for 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
  • Remove from heat and skim off any foam that forms on top.

  • Remove from water bath, let cool, and store in a cool, dark place until opened. Keep refrigerated after opening.

Notes

  • *To prepare strawberries, wash and remove hulls, cut into quarters or slices, then coarsely mash the berries using a potato masher.
